During the election campaign I spoke to a number of constituents who, like me and my family, have experienced the pain of seeing a loved one suffering with Alzheimer's and/or dementia.
As your representative I am committed to reforming how our social care system operates. That's why I support a cross party solution, where we don't just create a solution for the next 3 years but one which looks ahead to the next 30 years and beyond - gaining broad agreement on what needs to be done and putting the finances in place. You're right when you say this issue is as important as other public services and it should be treated as such.
I know where my priorities are in regards to any review. I do not want to see any person having to sell their home to pay for the care they need and this is something I have spoken about on a number of occasions. The Government is committed to getting a long terms solution to this and naturally I will be keeping a close eye on developments to make sure we get the right outcome.
