Burnley MP Antony Higginbotham has admitted the next few weeks are going to be difficult but said he would do everything in his power to protect lives and livelihoods.
Speaking after the town was placed into Tier 3 Covid restrictions he said his focus was on ensuring the right resources were in place to keep this period as short as possible. "After many discussions with the Health Secretary and medical advisors over the past few days it became apparent that we would need to see some extra measures put in place to slow the spread of Covid-19 and protect public health across Lancashire, including here in Burnley and Padiham. "For that reason the Health Secretary confirmed in a call with me earlier today that the county will be moving into Tier 3 from tonight.
I know this will be a worrying time for people and businesses across our borough and my focus remains on supporting us through this, with the right resources to keep the period as short as possible whilst really getting a grip of the spread.
The next few weeks will be difficult but as your representative I will do everything in my power to protect lives and livelihoods. The more we stick to the new rules, and always remember Hands, Face, Space, the quicker we can get back on track.
