More money for our thriving towns

Last month, true to his word, Boris Johnson provided additional funding to town halls up and down the country to rejuvenate our town centres. And I am delighted to see many North West towns in that list of areas to benefit, from Rochdale and Darwen to Nelson and Preston.

This money will allow our towns to look forward with a sense of optimism, and our communities to ensure that they continue to have vibrant centres. The funds available will help pay for better transport and infrastructure, supporting local jobs and importantly, ensuring a successful local economy doesn't result in congested roads.

Conservative governments consistently demonstrate that they are the ones that go further than any other to level up every part of our country and devolving decisions to local people. That's why it's so fantastic that  the "#MyTown" campaign will enable everyone to share their ideas on how their portion of the  £3.6 billion Stronger Towns Fund could be spent locally.

I'm looking forward to seeing even more areas benefit from these initiatives!
