It’s that time of year when we start to think about the festive season. And with us having gone so long without being able to see each other one thing which will take on added importance is Christmas cards. They are a symbol of festive cheer; sent to those we can’t see on that special day.
When I first got elected last December I received hundreds of cards; from fellow MPs, local residents and other groups. This year I’m looking forward to sending out my own and in doing this I want to reflect the best of Burnley and Padiham by showing the brilliant creativity of our young people. With that in mind, I have decided to run a competition for the card design which all local schools can participate in.
There will be two winners of the competition – one from a Primary school aged entrant, and one from a Secondary school aged entrant. The two will each receive a special certificate and their designs will be printed (in equal numbers) and sent out by me this Christmas, with the winner’s name, year and school printed too.
There’s no criteria to the design – it might be about Burnley at Christmas, politics and parliament, or something completely different. But please avoid glitter as it’s really difficult to print.
The entries can then be posted to me individually by parents, or all together from the school, at the address in the below.
Antony Higginbotham MP
House of Commons,
London,

The deadline is 12th November so I have time to select a winner and get the final designs printed.
I can’t wait to see the designs that come back.
