Our local businesses need support right now. These are tough times for all of us. The national lockdown means we are unable to see our loved ones, and businesses, built up by families and ambitious entrepreneurs, are having to close their doors. That is devastating.
But support is available.
Burnley Borough Council has received Government funding of £3,609,072 to help businesses in Burnley and Padiham manage their way through COVID-19 restrictions.
The Government has made four grant schemes available to Local Authorities to help businesses affected by either local restrictions or national restrictions. This includes grants for those who have been forced to close; those who have not been forced to close but have had restrictions on trade from the Tier system, including restrictions on household mixing in the premises; and those who have not been forced to close but have suffered a significant loss of business as a result of the pandemic.
This final grant is particularly aimed at those without fixed property costs, those in the supply chain of closed sectors, and those who work in events who have not received Government support so far.
I am doing all I can to encourage the council to use all of this funding to support businesses and self-employed people across Burnley.
The schemes are referred to as:
- Local Restrictions Support Grant (Closed)
- Local Restrictions Support Grant (Open)
- Local Restrictions Support Grant (Sector)
- Additional Restrictions Grant
