We're delivering a new University campus and Institute of Technology to ensure young people have the skills needed for the 21st century; with schools supported to drive up aspiration.

We need to spread opportunity to unleash the potential of Burnley and Padiham. And that’s why I'm working to turn our borough into a North West leader in technology education.

  • Our community became great on cutting edge technology. We need to restore this focus. And make Burnley an Educational Improvement Zone.
  • Burnley College has taken leaps forward by becoming part of a new Institute of Technology. One of only 12 nationally.
  • UCLan is expanding higher education in the borough, offering thousands more places to feed in skills to the new National Cyber Force in the Ribble Valley.

A Better Start for Every Child

For me the very heart of levelling up is ensuring we have a world class education system that empowers people within our borough. Because education brings opportunities and that’s exactly what I want to see for families within Burnley and Padiham. 

Ambitious reform for children and young people with SEND

After supporting a new Schools White Paper which will see all pupils who need extra help with learning in Burnley and Padiham given the support they need, Antony Higginbotham MP has welcomed the plans set out to improve the provisions in place for local SEND children.

Schools White Paper delivers real action to level up education

Any child who falls behind in maths or English will get the support they need to get back on track, as part of a pledge made by the Education Secretary today, as he launched the first Schools White Paper in six years.
