The Coronavirus pandemic has forced us all to get creative with our appearance, with the likes of hairdressers and beauty salons remaining closed for months during lockdown.
Hairdressers and barbers finally reopened on 4 July, and now beauty salons have been allowed to follow them.
Beauticians opened up on Monday 13 July, along with nail salons and tattooists, with treatments such as manicures, massages, pedicures and body waxes all able to restart.
But those involving touching another person’s face such as facials and eyebrow threading, initially remaining off limits.
Staff have to wear visors or use screens when treating clients, and you will have to book appointments. Walk ins are not permitted.
Businesses must also keep records of staff and customers and share these with NHS Test and Trace when asked.
With facial treatments supposed to resume at beauty salons from the 1st of August but now postponed for at least two weeks local MP Antony Higginbotham visited local beauticians Oscars Beauty Salon on Standish Street in Burnley last weekend.
Commenting Antony said,
It’s good to see how Oscars have spent money from central government to make the place Covid-secure. Like many other beauty salons they’ve started to welcome clients back in a safe way and I’ll keep working with the government to make sure they can resume full services as quickly as possible.
The government continues to work with a range of stakeholders in the beauty industry to develop the measures close contact services will need to be able to resume full facial treatments.
